Okay, I've been debating for at least a few months (which in computer time is at least a decade) on whether or not I would join facebook. Why the big debate, you say? Well, I only have a little bit of computer time I knew my blog would suffer if I started spending time on facebook. Also, I am a little confused on the purpose of facebook. Is it just so you can see that all your old friends have become "old" friends? Or is it to see their adorable kids?
So, I did a little research on blogging vs. facebook. Blogging started in 1999 however, you could only add pictures in 2004. Alas...facebook began in 2004. It does seem to reason that facebook has replaced blogging. Brady thinks it is the lazy person's blog. If anyone is still out there in blog-land please feel free to leave your opinion.
If you are not out there then I shall find you on facebook, because I joined today!!!

One thing is that you have to join Facebook to see what people have on their page, but a blog any with the info they need can see it. And a blog is more personal, more of a reflection of you, I think. I enjoy the blog and I know my parents will never join Facebook. I agree with Brady about the lazy person's blog or its also like jazzed up email. Somewhere in between blogging and emailing! How fun that you did research! Good for YOU! :) with love <3
I so understand your dilemma! But if you truly enjoy writing then Facebook does not offer that just yet. If it ever does, though, I may make the switcheroo complete. Til then I will try to balance the blog and the 'book!
adrian, I totally agree with it being a "jazzed up email!" I love that term!! Anyways, since I can't have a blog, I think facebook is better! (blogs are for mums!)
I don't quite understand facebook yet, but i "had to" join to see some friend's pics. blog...it's more personal, plus I love reading your "green acres" stories and living the outdoor life through Brady!
First of all I love your new layout on your blog!
I am still loyal to my blog. Although, my posts are few and far between right now, it is such a great way to remember all the things you want to remember. I am going to upload mine into a book. Who has time to scrapbook? This way it's all done.
Someone explained FB to me like this. FB is to email and texting is to making phone calls. Short and sweet. No need for elaboration.
Please don't stop your blog! Usually when I update my blog I put that on my status so people can just check out the blog. I sure can't put pics and all that on both.
Wow! That turned into a long comment.
Love you you lots,
Anita
DO NOT STOP BLOGGING!!!! i joined facebook and look at every now and then, but concentrate more on blogging!!!!
I guess I am old. I have joined Facebook just so I can see others sites. I just don't understand it at all, it does seem fun to me outside of getting "reconnected" with friends from grad school and college and high school, etc. I usually "meet" them there and send them to my blog for more info! :) I hope you don't stop blogging!
Don't leave your blog! I love reading your stories, and you truly have the gift of words... Facebook is not a "story" venue. You can find high school, college and/or church friends, but they won't be able to read your hilarious stories and read updates on your family. They just serve different purposes... Facebook connects you to the past and Blog connects you and others to the present. Decisions, decisions.
I have both, but I don't spend a lot of time on facebook, just reading other's stuff mainly. I really like the more personal reflective nature of blogs, and like Jeanine said, you can write more. For me, facebook is mainly for keeping up with friends whose blogs I don't read or follow closely.
How funny!!! I just read this post. I think I enjoy the "lazy mans blog" a little more. Of course, you should check out my myspace page, my Flickr page, my gather page, my imeem page,
and my knitting and crochet page at revelry. I'm kidding! (i do have a dated myspace page)
I like blogging much better! It seems nicer!!!
We have not yet given into the temptation to browse, enlist, join or think about face book but EVERYONE please don't stop bloggin...I love catching a small but personal glimpse of ALL of the lives and families that God has allowed to paths to cross. I love reading with certain inflections of humor or dry wit that different people have or shedding a tear or two that lets me know that no one is perfect...When or if we are the LAST to jump ship...please someone let us know how to stay in touch.
